What is CrossFit?

CrossFit is constantly varied, high-intensity functional movement.

CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program that trains all the energy systems of the body and optimizes competence in each and every one of the 10 domains of physical fitness: cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, stamina, strength, flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, balance and accuracy.

CrossFit is a whole-body approach that combines both cardio and strength training with its constantly varied, high-intensity functional movements. Its emphasis on load, distance and speed renders performance, development and progression both measurable and effective.  Its focus on functional movements does not only make you fitter but also better equipped to deal with everyday life movements (squatting is standing from a seated position and deadlifting is picking any object off the ground) and lead a healthy, functional and independent life.

CrossFit is for everyone and anyone.  Due to the scalability of movements and intensity level, it can be used to accomplish any goal.  Athletes seek functional dominance whereas our grandparents seek functional competence.  Increased power, speed, strength, cardiovascular/respiratory endurance, flexibility, stamina, coordination, agility, balance, and accuracy are each important to the world’s best athletes and to our grandparents.

CrossFit is safe. Like in any other aspect of life, it is carelessness that is dangerous. The biggest and most common misconception about CrossFit is its unfounded, false link to injuries.  All you have to do is follow the coach’s instructions and know your limitations.

“Learn the mechanics of fundamental movements, establish a consistent pattern of practicing these same movements, and, only then, ratchet up the intensity of workouts incorporating these movements. ‘Mechanics,’ then ‘Consistency,’ and then ‘Intensity’— this is the key to effective implementation of CrossFit programming.”


CrossFit is family, community, friendship, passion.  CrossFit is a way of life.  The CrossFit box is the friendliest, warmest and most welcoming place to train.  The strong bonds and lasting friendships created among CrossFitters are like no other.  You help each other, push each other to the limit, cheer each other, challenge each other, encourage each other, support each other and sometimes depend on each other.  You work hard together, sweat together, laugh together, sometimes cry together and celebrate even the smallest accomplishment together.  It is probably the only sport in the world where the last one to finish gets the loudest cheers and greatest applause!
